Recently, I had to remake my project, so it could be correctly displayed to all browsers. Since it was meant to be presented to 5-6 people, I didn’t care about IE compatability. The website was developed in Dreamweaver CS4, tested on Firefox and Chrome, where the display was the exact same as the design.

When the project was released to the public, I hooked a Google Analytics code, to keep track of any random visitors. Read more…

Hello,

This is a small apology for not posting for almost a month now. I promise you that starting from April, I am going to update this blog for at least 2 times/month.  There are stuff happening that consume the best part of my day ( like Spartacus: Blood and Sand :p )

I had a little vacation, to relax from the February madness, and when I returned, my work had been pilled up! Still trying to finish some things left incomplete. Plus, trying to educate myself with some jQuery and WordPress, and at the same time working on 2 jobs.

Anyway, in April there should be 1 post about Flex and one conserning my hobbies. My portfolio should be ready before May.

Thank you for your patience! If you have any requests regarding Flex (now Flash Builder 4.0 – feeling sick already), leave a comment and I’ll try to answer it!

Μετά απο 8 μήνες δουλειάς, τρέξιμο για τις εκτυπώσεις κτλ, είναι έτοιμη!

Όπως υποσχέθηκα θα την αναρτήσω εδώ, ώστε να είναι δημόσια ανοιχτή και -αν χρησιμεύσει σε κάποιον-  ο πηγαίος κώδικας.

Η εργασία αφορά ενα πρακτορείο ηλεκτρονικής διανομής τύπου, όπου τα προϊόντα μπορούν είτε να αγοραστούν ψηφιακά είτε έντυπα. Περιέχει μια απλή διαχείρηση της βάσης δεδομένων και είναι γραμμένο εξολοκλήρου σε php. Επίσης χρησιμοποιούνται xml,mxml (Flex), js και CSS.

Let’s all admit that we love Flex. It’s the way that the new wave of developers should write code.

The current version 3.0 is quite buggy, since this is the first mainstream release (yes, version 2.0 was the big release, but 3.0 has more hands-on testers).  Anyways, we will try to fix a common error that is produced from the Database Wizard.

When we built our application (web or Air , it doesn’t matter, the error is the same) from the Database Wizard, Flex produces 3 files. The MXML file with the source code, *Script.as with the necessary actionscript code to handle all the database functions, such as Insert, Update, Delete, and the *config.as  which contains some irrelevant (to this tutorial) code.

Εχθές βρέθηκα να παρακολουθήσω το WordCamp στο ξενοδοχείο Mandrino στο τέλος της Εγνατίας. Ήμουν από τους τυχερούς που πήγα νωρίς και βρήκα να καθίσω καθώς μέσα στην αίθουσα γινόταν το αδιαχώρητο! Αν δεν κάνω λάθος παρευρέθηκαν 84 άτομα!

Σαν φανατικός προασπιστής του Joomla πως βρέθηκα εκεί; Μία το ότι είναι geek event στην πόλη μου, μία τα θέματα, μία η παρέα (κυρίως γνωστοί από το OpenTsipouro), τελικά έκανα την καρδιά μου πέτρα και πήγα (just kidding).

Συναντηθήκαμε εκεί οι γνωστοί, και γνωριστήκαμε με αγνώστους από όλο το geekdom, και όχι μόνο,  της Θεσσαλονίκης  και της υπόλοιπης Ελλάδας. Read more…
